Everett Bever, 75, Jewell, died March 13, 1996, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, with Rev. Tim Napppe officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
Everett Dean Bever, son of Frank and Leah Robbins Bever, was born May 13, 1920, in Blairsburg. He was a lifetime Jewell and Webster City resident. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II in Australia and the south Pacific and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He made his living as a farmer and retired in 1983. On June 15, 1941, he married Ruth Elizabeth Whaley.
He is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Audrey Bever, Dallas, Texas, William D. and Sandy Bever, Sherman, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Ann E. Thomas, Conway, Ark., Kathy and Mike Ose, Story City; seven grandchildren; sister, Lila Hunter, Greene; and brother, Franklin Bever, Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Beth Ann Robinson.
Mr. Bever was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Story City, the American Legion, and had been a city council member in Jewell.
